41 Million Tons of WEEE disposed in 2014

That is a big number and somewhat depressing to us here at Secure Data Recycling, the World is simply not doing enough to address this problem.

The UN actually suggest that this figure will rise to over 50 Million tons by the end of the decade.

What is frustrating for us, is the fact that there is no need for all this waste to be dumped as we have proved most of it can be recycled and there is money to be made doing so, according to the annual ‘Global E-Waste Monitor’ report – the value of the material recovered from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) globally in 2014 – primarily comprised of gold, copper and plastic components – is likely to have been close to €48 billion (£34.5bn).

So why is so much dumped in Africa and Asia?

It’s a growing problem but we at Secure Data Recycling are doing our bit to keep the UK’s landfill sites free of this valuable waste.
