“With the new ‘right to be forgotten’ ruling from the European Commission, internet search giant Google has been ordered to remove data from its records should private individuals flag up unwanted information that is being kept relating to them”.

Dr Erin Marie Saltman wrote in an article for the International Business Times that “this could have far-reaching effects for all companies holding records on private citizens, as they now face an increased risk of prosecution if databases are not regularly assessed”.

This also leads back to our earlier blog on storage in the “Cloud” , data is getting centralised and large and small companies need to know how there obsolete data is destroyed.
