The system or process by which the organisation will audit, monitor and review the compliance of all parties involved in implementing the information destruction policy.
An audit must follow the following protocol:
The approved systems, procedures and criteria for verifying compliance with any aspect of the information destruction policy.
An Audit must end with an Audit trail:
The documentation or other recording of the destruction process that is created to establish there is routine and ongoing compliance of the policy and establish a chain of custody and transfer of fiduciary responsibility throughout the process. A contiguous audit trail is necessary regardless of whether information destruction is conducted by employees or outsourced to an approved service provider.
