This a new twist on things, the US Congress is pushing through a bill that will make it illegal for US companies to send electrical and electronic waste to China.

Sure one angle is the issue of data security, but the other is due to how in China they are taking the old products and remanufacturing them as counterfeit goods and reselling the back to the US.

“The bill’s creators say that it addresses an issue identified in a Senate Armed Services Committee study that found 1,800 cases of counterfeit parts in military technology, including fighter jets, missile guidance systems, submarines and helicopters.”
