Data collected in the EU must stay in the EU

The data/information held within files may not be transferred outside of the European Economic Area (that’s the EU plus some small European countries) unless the country that the data is being sent to has a suitable data protection law.

This part of the data protection act has led to some countries passing similar laws to allow computer data centres to be located in their area.

One key area of this falling down is when companies send old IT to be disposed in 3rd World Countries, Countries that do not follow the DPA and therefore the data is left exposed to illegal use.

Our advice is contact us at Secure Data Recycling, we guarantee that you data will be handled and destroyed here in the UK and not sent to a 3rd party outside the UK, let alone one that does not follow the terms and condition laid down in the Data Protection Act.
