European Waste-to-Energy Plants (CEWEP)

There is an argument brewing at the COP21 that there is not much difference between landfill and incineration from a climate perspective.

said that “the report, produced by consultancy Eunomia on behalf of Zero Waste Europe, ignored the fact that incineration with high efficiency energy recovery at modern waste to energy plants is higher up the waste hierarchy than landfilling”.

The organisation also said “With efficient electricity and heat recovery waste to energy plants contribute significantly to reducing the climate impacts of modern waste management and appear much more climate friendly than when the waste is disposed of in landfills.”

We at Secure Data Recycling try at all times to ensure waste is NOT sent to landfill the argument that burning is better than burying is an interesting one, we don’t know all the facts but  can you really control the emissions when waste is burnt for energy? Is it truly better than landfill? We will be listening into COP21 to learn more.
