No 2 in the List of Environmental Issues – Groundwater contamination

Groundwater contamination occurs when chemical, gasoline, oil and other similar products leach into the groundwater.  The problem is that we all make great use of some of the biggest sources of contamination: septic systems, hazardous waste sites, landfills,  road salts, fertilizers, and pesticides.

This is a stage further than Surface Water Polution, this is where the chemicals and oil seep down into the underground waters, water that fills our reservoirs.

A portion of this issue lies within the WEEE directive.
