Proper Disposal of Destroyed Materials

Our definition of “Proper Disposal” is:

Disposal of the particles resulting from destroyed media in a manner that further protects them from unauthorised parties that may go to extraordinary lengths to attempt their reconstruction or otherwise capitalise on such access.

In other words, if Data on a Hard Drive is not properly wiped or information is not properly shredded, either could allow criminals to rebuild your data.

Seems far fetched that people will go to such lengths to reconstruct data, but it happens every day and you as a company or organisation must ensure that you use approved partners such as Secure Data Recycling that offer a full Audit Trail from collection to destruction.
