Reducing carbon footprint

Plastic bag use is expected to fall significantly in Sweden, as much as an 80% drop is predicted, after an innovative take-back trial was conducted.  This will not only reduce the amount of waste plastic going to landfill but will also save on the carbon, energy and water footprints used during the of manufacture of plastic carrier bags.

Presently, the Swedish laws permit the retailers to give free plastic bags to customers in all shops except grocery stores, but they must warn the customers of the waste implications.

It is now good to see the same standards are used here in the UK
