What is Farcing?

Farcing is the latest fad to sweep the world of cybercrime, and its goal is to mine personal information from social media sites. This private information can then be used to steal an individual’s identity and access credit lines and financial accounts.

The first step in farcing occurs when a cybercriminal befriends a stranger on, for instance, Facebook. The hacker will set up a fraudulent profile with a friendly, attractive-looking picture to lure in victims. Additionally, many of these profiles will boast a hefty list of mutual friends, encouraging individuals to accept the request.

How many times have you seen a handsome young man or pretty women pop up on your skype account.

Our advice at Secure Data Recycling is DELETE, DELETE, DELETE.

If you do not know someone DON’T befriend them.

Remember, when you dispose of old IT we are not just talking about PC’s and Notebooks, remember your mobile phone is a very powerful computer and so is your ipad or tablet.

Don’t just toss them in a draw or pass them onto someone else without first deleting all your data.

Contact Secure Data Recycling to ensure that all your old data is destroyed when you have finished with a device.
